Photos September-November 2016 · Fotos Septiembre-Noviembre 2016

I haven't updated the blog for a long time, so I want to share some photos I have taken these last months.

Let's start with September. One day I went to Barcelona and I took photos at Carrer del Bisbe, in the Barrio Gótico of the city.

CosmoCaixa Barcelona - August/Agosto 2016

The first Sunday of the month the entry to access the science museum in Barcelona, now known as CosmoCaixa, is free. The last time I visited this museum was many years ago and I wished to visit it after the reform of 2014. I remembered it as a fun museum where you could play with different experiments and time fly there, so after all this time, I decided to go with my mother.

As I live in a town near Barcelona, I had to take the bus, metro and Ferrocarrils Catalans de la Generalitat (FCG) to arrive to CosmoCaixa. It took us over an hour to arrive despite having caught transport with no waiting.

Just outside the FCG station I saw parked the Tramvia Blau (blue tram) and at that time passengers were taking it to enjoy the route.

I've got a job as dog groomer · He encontrado trabajo como peluquera canina

Source · Fuente
Today I have something important to announce and is that after a long time unemployed, in late June I found work as dog groomer. When I decided to take the course of dog grooming I knew that sooner or later I'd find a job in this sector and this confirms that I was right to invest money in the course. It's also a job I like and enjoy as I love working with animals.

For now I'm working in a pet salon two to three days a week and only when there are dogs to groom. At least it helps me to practice what I've learned and earn some money with it. Although now I have less time to update my blogs, I will keep updating when I can or have something to say or want to share.

See you soon!

Thanks for your visit!

I haven't updated the blog for more than a month ago. I have been devoting more time to doll photography (you can see the posts on my blog Genwaku) and other matters, but here I come again with a new entry.

This week I have received a hairdressing scissors case that I ordered on eBay. I couldn't find what I wanted in any hairdressing store and after much searching I found the ideal case. As my scissors are for dog grooming and therefore larger, I had to make sure the size was correct.

Sant Jordi 2016

Yesterday was the day of the book, or Sant Jordi, as known in Catalonia. Here is tradition to give a rose or a book and is a big celebration. Strolling through the center of Barcelona can turn into an adventure because of the agglomeration of people who are in some streets and even though I hate the crowds, I like to walk around Barcelona that day and I spent the afternoon there.

You can find book stalls and roses stalls in almost any corner and being the World Book Day, come many writers to sign their books. Out of curiosity, we approached to the booth in which Mario Vaquerizo, a Spanish singer, writer and other professions, was signing his books in Plaza Catalunya in front of Corte Ingles.

I am a dog groomer! · ¡Ya soy peluquera canina!

I'm late at updating the blog, sorry. And there's another entry pending that I will post in the following days, but first I want to publish this one to let you know that I'm officially a dog groomer.

On the 29th February I got an e-mail with the marks and I have passed the course, so I would get the diploma of Professional Dog Groomer.

I made the exam on the 17th February and I had to do the whole grooming a beautiful Maltese called Doti. He was a bit naughty dog but he behaved quite well and let me make the grooming without any complications.

Below you can see Doti's before and after.

Today I continue with the second part of my experiences in the dog grooming course.

A few weeks before finishing the course, came a beautiful Akita Inu named Yako. As my teacher knew I like this kind of dogs, she reserved the grooming of this dog for me. It was an experience in which there was much laughter.

As you can see below, the dog was huge and was shedding.

As I said in previous posts, I have been attending a course in dog grooming. I started in mid-September and on the 17th February I made the final exam. Now I'm waiting for marks and degree, so when I have everything, I will let you know here.

The course has been with practices 100% and studied theoretical at home. I have learned to bath, drying and to brush dogs properly, hygiene trim, to cut hair with pet clipper and blade attachment combs , nail clipping, ear plucking and cleaning, cutting paw hairs, do haircuts in scissors and stripping on different dog breeds ... There are many things that are done in the salon to groom dogs so beautiful. So I will talk about my evolution during these five months with photos that I have taken and my teacher has taken of me.

I have been thinking a lot about it, but finally you're going to be able to see who is the person behind the screen. If I decided to publish these photos around here is because most of them have been posted on the facebook page of Artero International Academy, the dog grooming school I have been taking this course to. That said, let's begin.

I started on the 14th September 2015 and practice classes were in a dog salon in my town. The first day of school you always go with the uncertainty of what will you do and how it will be. I started strong. My teacher has two dogs, a giant Poodle that at that time was 6 months old and it was large already and a 2 years old Kerry Blue, so to begin with, she taught me to brush with the giant Poodle. Although it looks easy, it wasn't because she was a big dog and although she was well maintained and hardly was tangled, it took me a long time to brush her completely.

After brushing was time for the bath. The teacher taught me how to properly bath a dog and as Poodles have quite hair and is curling, it was pretty hard for me to bath the half of the dog because I didn't get that water penetrated inside to wet her well and get a good sudsy and besides, the dog moved around a lot. And of course, then she had to be dried and brushing stretching her hair and you have to use different dryers to dry the dog completely. But I managed to finish all the work and for the first time that I brushed and bathed a dog of that type and size in a professional way, I wasn't bad at all. Below you can see a photo of me taken by my teacher that first day of class after work.

Last week was bad. I dedicated an entry to David Bowie and within days there was another loss. I said I hoped not to have to write about something so sad for a long time but it hasn't been possible. As you might know, Alan Rickman died last Thursday, also at the age of 69.

I liked his interpretation as Professor Severus Snape in Harry Potter, my favorite character. In our memories we will have his films.

The year has a bad start. I would have liked to start it in the blog differently, but I can not help dedicating an entry to the recently deceased David Bowie. Who has not ever hummed any of his songs? I will also remember with fondness the film "Labyrinth", in which he played the Goblin King and was part of my childhood and I still like to watch.

I invite you to listen to the song "Life on Mars?", Song that I never tire of listening to.
